Gretchen McCulloch, the internet’s favourite linguist, is visiting Tartu

From August 27th to 29th 2024, the internet's favorite linguist Gretchen McCulloch will visit Tartu. She will conduct a two-part hybrid workshop on communicating linguistics and gives a TÜling talk.

Gretchen McCulloch is the author of one of the New York Times bestselling books, “Because Internet: Understanding the New Rules of Language”. Gretchen McCulloch is an internet linguist: she explores the language of the internet for the people of the internet. She’s also the co-creator of Lingthusiasm, an enthusiastic podcast about linguistics.

On Tuesday the 27th at 17:-18:15 EEST she will give a TÜling talk titled „Applying linguistic methods to linguistic communication“ in Jakobi 2, room 438. All are welcome to listen.

On Wednesday the 28th from 11:15 to 16:30 EEST she will give an interactive hybrid workshop “Communicating Linguistics with the Public”. She will explore the forces shaping human language and influencing communication in the workshop.

14:30-16:30 EEST  Second session: Applying linguistics methodologies to finding groups with which to share linguistics
